Computer Support Specialist / A+ Certification

This training will prepare individuals for entry-level positions in the field of computer repair. It is designed for individuals who have some basic knowledge of computers and the ability to learn advanced computer technology. The course consists of a total of 420 hours of classroom instruction and hands-on application.


This course will provide students with:

  • Exposure to basic repair of the personal computer
  • Basic operation of the personal computer, utilizing DOS and Windows ME, 2000 and XP Operating Systems and other software components
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining the hardware and software of a personal computer
  • Computer to computer communications
  • Troubleshooting system board components
  • Preparation for the A + and IC3 Certification Exams

Requirements:
• Delaware Resident at least 18 years of age
• Valid Driver’s license
• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Ability to pass Reading and Math Exam
• Pass criminal background check
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
• Keyboarding Skills
• $190.00 payment for A+ Certification exam (subject to change)

Do I need to find employment after completing the course?
Answer: Yes. The primary mission of the Delaware Skills Center is to place individuals in full-time, permanent employment upon completion of training.

How will I find a job?
Answer: The Delaware Skills Center will provide job placement assistance. Students must also actively participate in job seeking activities.

What starting salary can I expect?
Answer: It varies. The average entry-level salary is between $9.00-$15.00 per hour based on your ability and past work experience.

Is it possible to find employment before the course ends.
Answer: Yes. As long as the course objectives and curriculum are completed to the satisfaction of the instructor and training specialist.
