Students will be taught the importance of creating and achieving educational and employment goals.

Career Pathways Program

The Career Pathway Program will provide students the opportunity to determine their skills and career interests through an assessment to identify a career pathway of interest offered at the Delaware Skills Center. Then a training compatibility determination is made through providing extensive labor market information relative to each training program, career interest inventory results, assessments, adult mentoring, financial literacy, entrepreneurial training, GED®, academic classes in math, language and reading, and employability skills.

Computer Support instructor teaching students

Computer Support / A+

Maximizes computer system capabilities by studying technical applications; making recommendations.

Computer Help Desk Support, Networking, and Mobile Device Support

This 18 week (675 hr) training course prepares individuals for entry-level positions in the field of Information Technology (IT) support. Individuals who have some basic knowledge of computers and a strong desire to learn advanced computer technology are ideal candidates for this course. Students will learn computer hardware, software, networking setup, administration, architecture, mobile device setup/repair. Upon course completion, the student will take the A+ and Net+ Comp TIA certification exams.

Responsible for assisting electricians with installing and maintaining electrical and power systems.

Electrical Trades

The Construction Electric course consists of twelve (12) weeks (420 hours) of classroom training, which is supplemented with hands on shop activities. This class is divided into three phases with safety, work ethics, cooperation and teamwork emphasized throughout this course.

HVAC technicians are professionals who work on residential and commercial HVAC systems for temperature control and air quality.

HVAC / Energy Technician

The Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) course is designed for those individuals who are interested in becoming employed in the HVAC and Residential Energy Trades. The job titles include: HVAC installation apprentice, HVAC service technician apprentice, Home Energy Auditing, Commercial and Residential building maintenance and Weatherization. The length of this course is twelve (12) week with three (3) weeks of embedded unpaid hands-on job-shadowing experience.

Multi-Craft Industrial Trades Lattice

The Multi-Craft program is designed to provide entry level training for individuals who desire to conduct facilities maintenance and repairs in private and public property. Skills taught will include Welding, HVAC, Carpentry, Plumbing, and Electrical. In the day program.

In the evening students will take one of five courses to earn first year credentials in Electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, Welding, or Plumbing.

Practical Nursing

Licensed practical nurse take care of those who are injured, convalescent, sick or disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses.

Practical Nursing

The Practical Nursing course, approved by the Delaware Board of Nursing, provides an opportunity for the students to successfully study and learn the course requirements to take the licensure examination after graduation. After passing the licensure examination, students will work full-time in the health care field as a Licensed Practical Nurse, providing bedside care to assigned patients. The program includes both classroom and clinical learning experiences in various nursing facilities in New Castle County.

Welding & Fabrication

The job of Welder/Fabricator is done for the purpose/s of maintaining and repairing a wide variety of items constructed of, or containing, metal throughout the District.

Welding & Fabrication

Classes are held from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday This 18 week training course will prepare the successful student with the skills required to secure a job as an entry-level welder. Students will learn and becomes skilled in one or more areas of welding (Mig, Tig, Stick)
