HVAC / Building Systems Maintenance
Jobs in this field include: apartment and commercial maintenance mechanic, HVAC service technician apprentice, HVAC installation apprentice, and HVAC counter parts sales. This course offers the opportunity to become an HVAC service technician or an HVAC installer depending on knowledge and productivity.
The training includes forty perc ent classroom, which will include basic prinicples of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, circuit theory, and air distribution systems. The other sixty percent will be hands on training in the shop.

- Safety and use of hand and power tools
- Copper and Plastic Piping Practices
- Soldering and Brazing
- Ferrous Metal Piping
- Basic Electricity and DC Circuit Theory
- Oil and Gas Heat using hot water or forced air
- Ductwork Installation and Air Distribution Systems
- Introduction to cooling, heat pumps, refrigeration
- Simulated trouble shooting on heating and air conditioning systems
- Introduction to basic plumbing, drywall and electrical repairs
- EPA SEction 608 Technician Certification
Requirements:
• Delaware resident at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license
• High School Diploma or Equivalency
• Ability to pass reading and math exam
