CDL

 

Overview:

This 6-week (160 hour) training course will prepare you for a career on the road!  Upon course completion students will be able to apply for their Class A CDL license.
 
 
 
40 hours Classroom Instruction
40 hours Range/Pre-trip
80 hours Range/Road
 
Skills and Competencies Taught:
Shifting/operating transmissions
Backing up and docking
Space management
Vehicle communications
Night driving
Extreme driving conditions
Vehicle maintenance
Pre- and post-trip inspections

 

* CDL tuition includes training and one drivers test at DMV.  Only one re-test permitted after initial exam.

 

 

Classes are Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 3:30pm.

 

 

Tuition and Fees:

Tuition for non-funded applicant - $6,255.00

Background Check and Drug Screening: $155.00 - payment can be made online at www.deskillscenter.org

Cycle One: August 17, 2026 - September 17, 2026
 
Cycle Two:  October 5, 2026 - November 5, 2026
 
Cycle Three: November 23, 2026 - January 8, 2027
 
Cycle Four: January 25, 2027 - February 25, 2027
 
Cycle Five:  March 15, 2027 - April 16, 2027
 
Cycle Six:  April 26, 2027 - May 26, 2027
 

 

 
Requirements for Enrollment:
 
  • Delaware Resident at least 21 Years of Age
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of Selective Service Registration (males only)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Ability to Pass a Reading and Math Exam
  • Pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
  • Reliable Transportation
 
 
 
Additional Requirements for CDL Licensing:
 
  • Good Driving Record
  • DMV Permit
  • DOT Physical
