Certified Nursing Assistant

Overview:

This 6-week (225 hour) training course is designed to prepare students for work in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, home care, etc. Upon completion, all students will take the Delaware State Test for Nurse Aide Certification.
 
 

Curriculum:

Students will prepare for practice and certification which includes, but is not limited to, the aging process, anatomy, physiology, daily living, communication skills, dementia training, infection control, psychosocial needs, safe practice, and work ethics.  Professional conduct and employability skills are emphasized throughout.  Punctuality and attendance is mandatory.
 
 
Classes are Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm and include clinicals.

Cycle One:  August 19, 2024 - September 27, 2024
 
Cycle Two:  October 7, 2024 - November 15, 2024
 
Cycle Three:  November 25, 2024 - January 17, 2025
 
Cycle Four:  January 27, 2025 - March 7, 2025
 
Cycle Five:  March 17, 2025 - April 23, 2025
 
Cycle Six:   May 5, 2025 - June 13, 2025
 
 
Background Check and Drug Screening: $155.00 - payment can be made online at www.deskillscenter.org. See page 13 of the Course Guide for tuition and fees on non-funded enrollments. 
 
 
Requirements for Enrollment:
 
  • Delaware Resident at least 18 Years of Age
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of Selective Service Registration (males only)
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Ability to Pass a Reading and Math Exam
  • Pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Immunizations Up-to-date
