Carpentry Program
Overview:
This 12-week (420 hour) training course is designed for participants who want to enter the trade as an entry-level carpenter. Upon completing the course, the participant will enter the carpentry field as a competent and qualified entry-level carpenter. Through a combination of theory and hands on training, you will receive the experience to prepare you to work on a job site.
Certificates and Certifications Achieved Upon Course Completion:
- NCCER Core Curriculum
- NCCER Carpentry Level 1
- 1st Year Apprenticeship Certification
- Advanced Placement into Second Year of the Delaware Apprenticeship Program
- 10 Hour OSHA Certification
Classes are Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm.
Curriculum:
All phases of residential home construction. Basic joinery, layout and print reading, framing, roof construction, and covering. Door and window installation. Tool instructions, basic hardware, drywall installation, and finishing. Painting exterior and trim. Exterior covering. Basic step layout.
Operate power and hand tools relevant to the carpentry field, set up the work area safely, complete basic carpentry tasks, and know how to operate related tools and materials. Identify and install various types of fasteners, understand building permits and codes used or required on the job site.
Cycle Schedule:
Cycle One: August 19, 2024 - November 13, 2024
Cycle Two: November 18, 2024 – February 25, 2025
Cycle Three: March 3, 2025 – May 28, 2025

Requirements for Enrollment:
- Delaware Resident at least 18 Years of Age
- Valid Driver’s License
- Social Security Card
- Proof of Selective Service Registration (males only)
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Ability to Pass a Reading and Math Exam
- Pass Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening
- Reliable Transportation
- Ability to Lift 50lbs
